Our Chess Intermediate I course builds on foundational skills from beginner levels, advancing students' chess knowledge and strategies. This course focuses on developing advanced tactics, strategic planning, and positional understanding. Key Skills Covered: * Understanding the three phases of a chess game: opening, middlegame, and endgame. * Mastering advanced tactics like pins, forks, and skewers. * Learning the importance of pawn structure and piece development. * Recognizing and defending against common checkmate patterns. * Enhancing game mechanics, including castling, en passant, and pawn promotion. * Practicing checkmating patterns with different pieces. * Classes include board demonstrations, practical interactions, and playing matches under the instructor's guidance. * Students will also be invited to participate in chess tournaments to test their skills in a competitive setting. Prerequisites: This class is for children who have a strong command of basic chess moves and rules, including check, stalemate, and checkmate. Familiarity with castling and en passant is expected.
