Description
Level 3 - Microbit Grade 4-5 Familiarity with block based programming in Scratch This club is for K-5 students looking to delve into Computer Programming. The course is designed to reinforce understanding and familiarity with essential concepts in programming languages, such as algorithms, loops, variables, logic, conditionals, objects, properties, events, design, implementation, debugging, testing, etc. Each week's class includes an unplugged activity focusing on Computational Thinking skill, followed by a programming project that students will work on using Scratch Jr., Scratch, or Python based on their level. Each coder will end the session with a capstone project, wherein students will design, implement, test, and debug a program they created. Students will also be encouraged to present at Code Night held in December.
About Hudson Montessori School
The Montessori environment sets up a child for success by inspiring our students to discover, practice, and master skills on their own with teachers as their guides. We provide students with the materials, and they discover infinite possibilities at all ages. A beautiful component of the Montessori model is the multi-age-level approach to learning, with students as mentors. Our assemblies each week offer students a forum for presenting their ideas and showing their peers and teachers what they have created. Students receive valuable feedback, reflect on their work, and consider their next steps or a future project.
